NO SLOP. OUR STANDARDS ARE NOT FOR SALE.
Our mission
Newspage is a news agency built on the people who know their subjects best: working professionals who see what is happening in the economy before it becomes news. Our mission is to turn what they see into richer, human-verified journalism, and to keep that journalism worth trusting.
OUR STANDARDS
Our standards are not for sale. Here they are, in writing.
- Coverage is never guaranteed. Experts pay for the chance to take part in our stories, never for the outcome. We don’t promise coverage and we don’t promise rankings. Editors, ours and everyone else’s, decide what runs.
- Who we quote is our decision. Nobody can buy a place in a story. When a firm sponsors our research, we quote other experts alongside them, including their competitors.
- Sponsored research is labelled. When a firm pays for a piece of Newspage research, the story says so: “New Newspage research, sponsored by [firm], found that…”. The research is ours, and links to the sponsor’s website are marked as sponsored.
- Quotes mean what the expert said. We correct typos. We never change what an expert meant.
- Figures are checked at source. Every number in a story is checked against where it came from, and we name the source.
- Badges are earned, never sold. Our Verified badge comes from published coverage, and nobody can pay for it or for a better place in our directory.
- People write our stories. We use AI tools to help with research and checking. The journalism is written and edited by journalists.
- If we get it wrong, we fix it. Tell us through our contact page and we’ll correct the record.
No slop. We would rather publish nothing than publish something for the sake of it. If a story isn’t good enough to run, it doesn’t run.
